Two posts in one day, again!! You'll all be getting sick of me, lol.
I've got two lots of great news, one I can tell and one I can't-just yet. I'll get onto what I can tell, well I think it's great news. We go on holiday to a cottage every year, a different place, but cottages non the less, well the last few years I've taken my copics with me, but I am now an ink girl-I started colouring with only inks around November. I actually tried to use my copics the other week and failed miserably. Well, bearing this in mind, you can imagine my excitement when the Distress Ink Markers came out, I just had to have them. I waited patiently for them to arrive and when I got them I was so disappointed. They soaked into the paper before I had chance to blend. I thought it meant risking taking all of my reinkers in the car, can you imagine the mess if they broke-even one??? Well, believe it or not I am actually a scientist, I've got BSc hons degree the lot, so I put my researchy head on. I use Fabriano 5 Hot Press paper as it's nice and smooth and lovely, but it turns out it absorbs quicker than Cold Pressed (or NOT which is NOT HP), so I bought some cold press paper and I am so, so pleased. I've got portable inks after all. I found I coloured in quicker too, I think I need a little practise shading etc, but for my first attempt I must admit I am rather pleased.
What's the verdict? OK for a first go? I actually just stamped in the book and started to see how they blended, they were so good that I ended up finishing the image and making a card so I could show it off. I was really supposed to be colouring several images in, but never mind, lol. I've coloured Tilda in with Distress Ink Markers, with the following colours,
I've used Magnolia Paper and stitched the edges, the lace is from The Ribbon Girl. The flowers and the pearls are from Wild Orchid Crafts. I'm entering the card into the TOMIC Bingo challenge, I've chosen the middle horizontal line of pearls, magnolia paper and flowers.
Here's the paper that I've used, I bought a couple of pads to play with, this was the first one I picked up and I'll def be getting more.
Better go as I really must get the vacuum cleaner out, housework is no fun though :(
Hugs,

Hi Becky
ReplyDeleteWOW what a pretty card, love it. After seeing your previous card with this sweet Tilda on it, I thought I have to buy her (even though I'm NOT supposed to be buying any more stamps at the moment.) lol, you can imagine my disappointment when I found that (2) of my local craft shops are out of stock of her (do you think someone is trying to tell me something) rotfl.
Thank you for the info on the HP & CP paper, IF/WHEN I am able to purchase the distress markers I'll remember your advice.
hugs

Hi Becky, this is beautuful and this Tilda is gorgeous. It certainly looks fab with the distress markers. I have had some for a while but daren't use them, maybe I should get some of that paper and just have a go and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards.
Hugs Sue W.
Gorgeous card, Becky and very interesting to hear your views on the card and Distress Markers. I love my markers and tend to use HP card as that's all I've been able to get locally. However, results are a bit hit and miss. I'll give the NOT paper a try! Tracey xx

Great Card lovely - but what super colouring with the markers! Must stay strong and hold off buying any more colouring mediums, have spent far too much on Copic's already - lol! You do make it hard with tips and news like it was faster to colour this fabby Tilda! , TBH even with markers could probably take me hours! :-) Jenny x
ReplyDeleteWow Becky, this card is beautiful. Your colouring is amazing. I bought 1 distress pen today because I was so curious. Love the effect distress inks give. There aren't many tutorials out there yet, so your comments are really helpful.
ReplyDeleteLove this Tilda image...I'm so tempted :)
Hugs, Janine xx
It's gorgeous Hun - don't know what all the fuss was about. I'd love to try distress inks...but don't want to buy if I can't get on with them. Beautiful card - perfect in every way. Hugs x

ReplyDeleteOkay now I'm dizzy for all the blog running around...lol, hope this is the right place, just kidding doll! I love your gorgeous card, hope I'm following the right one now, hate to miss your gorg work!
ReplyDeleteOk so this is why I've been asking you so many questions. I just bought this set of markers but haven't EVER distressed colored before. I'm a huge Copic fanatic but love the softness of the way these images turn out so thought I'd give these a go. So far I'm nothing but PO'ed. LOL!! But I'm still trying. Thanks for the tip on the paper. Cold press it is!!
ReplyDeletewow stunning card i have bought these markers and i am scared to use them lol still i think i shall have to have a play sue xxx
ReplyDeleteBecky your card is so magical, I just love the effect that your distress markers give... it looks like they might be a little easier to use than the stamp pads and a water brush... I valued your tip on the cold press paper... might have to see about getting some of that myself, if/when I fork out some cash for the markers:-)
