Flowers At La La Land

Hi everyone, it's time once again for team Friday to bring you our inspirational cards at La La Land, the theme this week is 'Flowers', as you may have noticed-I love my flowers ;)

I've coloured Dress Up Marci with my distress markers, used a pearl for the centre of the flower on her hat and used glamour dust on the petals.

The papers are from Maja Design, I'm loving purple at the moment. The flowers are from WOC.

The ribbon and the lace are from The Ribbon Girl and the Filigree Corner Die is from La La Land.

This is short and sweet, I'm writing this post to be scheduled while I'm waiting to go to the doctors for a blood test. It's a fasting blood test too, so I've not had my required cup of coffee, I need coffee to function, lol. So after my appointment I'm off to my friends for coffee, cakes and a giggle.

Black Magic

Hi my lovelies, hope you're all OK. I saw the challenge this week at Lili's Little Fairies is Black Magic. I initially thought about doing a boys card, but when I was mooching amongst my bits I found this pin, ribbon and remembered about my black top stitch thread and changed my mind.

I've coloured Cake Glorious Cake in with my Distress Markers, and added sparkle with Glamour Dust. The roses are out of my stash.

I bought the pom pom trim from the Ribbon Reel, I won a voucher for there the other week.

My arty shot.

Sorry it's short and sweet, but I've been feeling a bit off all day. Since I picked the kids up from school I've started to feel really ropey. My ear feels like that there is a water bubble in there, and it unusually seems to be amplifying sound-which is probably why I feel worse since I got the kids. It's also making me feel a bit wobbly, I'm feeling a tad sorry for myself :(

I was on nights the night before the kids went back to school, so my friend sent me this pic of them on their way, I've Instagramed it though. Poor Grace though, she managed to fall on her face about 2.15 so she now has a bruise on her forehead, a black eye and a couple of grazes down the side of her cheek. Luckily she'd broken her glasses and we were picking them up after school, or it could have been so much worse, bless her.

Tilda With Cherries

Hi everyone, this week at Live & Love Crafts we're bringing you an autumnal theme, but with a slight twist, we're showcasing hunting or berry picking. I live right on the coast of the North East of England so these aren't really anything I'm familiar with, but I have lots of Tilda stamps to choose from and I've not inked this cutie up for a while, and I think she fits beautifully. I'm entering this card into the Bingo challenge at MDUC, I've done the right vertical line of flowers, green and sewing.

I've coloured Tilda With Cherries with my distress markers and added subtle sparkle with Glamour Dust. I've distressed the edges of Kitchen Garden from Maja Design with Walnut Stain

I've stuck Jute Fabric behind the image and used Vintage Gingham Ribbon from Maya Road and stuck a matching Gingham Point Blossom on.

The centre piece of my flowers is a Vintage Findings Pearl Centre, the rolled roses are by Kort and Godt as are the Roses With Glass Pearls.

CLP Challenge 51

Hi,

I've had a busy weekend, this should have been posted on Saturday, but I was working 9am-9pm and I'm just getting round to it, sorry. Challenge # 51 started on 1st September at CLP Challenges, and Chelsea has made yet another fabulous sketch.

Regular followers may recall that I was asked to make an exam congratulations card for my friend at work to give her niece, after her amazing results she's now off to University and Alli asked me to make a card for her. After a bit of thinking I remembered this image from Saturated Canary, and thought it's perfect for a girl going away to Uni, I remember how much I ended up taking, lol.

Here's this month's sketch.

I've used several different collections of Maja Design papers, some of the bits are out of my scraps box. I always keep even the smallest scraps of this paper as it is so gorgeous. I've distressed all of the edges and machine sewn them using Top Stitch Thread. The roses and lilies are from WOC, the rolled roses are from Kort & Godt the Chrysanthemums are available here. I've used stickles on the flowers for a little sparkle, and there's also 5mm Ivory Self Adhesive Pearls.

The Organza Roses Trim is available here, I've also used Glamour Dust in crystal and gold.

I've coloured her in distress markers, but I've found that there is a knack to this. I have a Kodak wireless AIO printer, and I use the Kodak ink, as the paper is very thick I remove the plate off the back and feed the paper in that way. If I'm using Fabriano 5 (and using reinkers) I just let it dry a good while. However, if I'm using Canson Montval Cold Pressed paper as soon as the paper comes out I sprinkle with fine clear embossing powder. When I've used the heat gun on this it gives the larger ink areas a lovely shine, and I love how the eyes look.

The kids are back to school tomorrow, I can't decide if the summer holidays have flown or dragged?? I've enjoyed spending a lot of time with them, but I know that they've been missing their friends. Remember to check out my Birthday Candy here.

We can't wait to see your take on this months sketch at CLP.

Summer Flower Tilda

Hi my lovelies, I've made a card today just for fun. I was at work for twelve long hours yesterday day and I was itching to get this card made. The kids go back to school on Tuesday and they need some school shoes, I've left it until the end of the holidays as they both seem to grow overnight. I actually bought William a new pair of shoes about six weeks before the end of last term, they wouldn't even go on his feet on Friday and there was me thinking that they'd fit him for a few weeks and I'd be able to stagger buying their shoes.

I've coloured Summer Flower Tilda with my distress markers, and added sparkle with Glamour Dust. Surprisingly I've used Maja Design papers again, I can't get enough of them, the edges have been distressed with a Tim Holtz Distresser Tool and then machine sewn them with Top Stitch Thread.

The roses are from WOC and I've added sparkle with Stickles. I've sewn 10 mm White Tiny Pom Pom Trim on the smaller square and stuck Pink Looped Organza Trim behind Tilda. I've also stuck on a few 5 mm Adhesive Pearls.

Once again my arty view, what you can't see is that Grace managed to get her elbow in the picture, she's my little shadow. I had to pop in work the other day and as I went down the lab I was told that they looked like my little penguins following me, I thought that was a great description.

I've made this card for the following challenges:
Just Magnolia - Pretty In Pink
Deep Ocean Challenge - Things With Wings
In The Pink - Things With Wings
Sketch Saturday - Week #223
Simply Magnolia - Pink, White, Green and/or Blue
MDUC - Bingo, I've gone for 'Flowers, Green and Sewing'

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and thank you for visiting me. I'm off to colour some more images in whilst we watch Megamind and then Men in Black II.

Hugs,

Becky xx

Pearls at The Ribbon Girl

Hi my lovelies,
I hope you're having a lovely weekend, September already and as it's the first Sunday of the month it's time for another fantastic challenge at The Ribbon Girls Blog and this month our card challenge is Add Pearls.

Isn't this just the best challenge, at The Ribbon Girl there are so many gorgeous pearl things to choose from. I've coloured Little Tilda in with Distress Markers, I've also used the same red to colour some Cream Kort and Godt Chrysanths as I wanted the same colour in my flowers.

The papers are Christmas Paper Pad from Maja Design, these are gorgeous and I managed to get my sticky mits on two pads :). I've used 20mm Lace and Pearl Trim and so that my image didn't stand proud I carefully removed the pearls, with a craft knife, that would have been under the image, and then used the pearls in my flowers.

I've got two 13mm Diamante Spacers with 8mm Ivory Flat Back Pearls. I've also stuck several 5mm Self Adhesive Ivory Pearls on the card. I've distressed the Kraft with Walnut Stain and distressed the edges of the DP with a Tim Holtz tool and then machine sewn them using Cream Top Stitch Thread.

I've said before, but I think wings need to sparkle so I've added glamour dust to them, and theres also Stickles on the flowers.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, hugs

Lovely Lace at Live & Love Crafts Challenge

Hi my lovelies, first of the month and time for our third challenge at Live and Love Crafts, we had some amazing takes on Elizabeth's sketch last month, this month our theme is 'Lovely Lace or Terrific Trim'.

This is another card I've been asked to make by a colleague at work. Her friend adopted a little boy and girl and they're having a joint naming day for them both. Apparently it's hard to get a good choice of naming day cards, and she's never seen a joint one. The little girl is 6 and the little boy is 4, but I like this image from Sarah Kay as they're holding hands and look so sweet.

I've used Maja Designs As Long As I Live papers and I've distressed the edges with Walnut Stain. I've trimmed the middle panel with Lace Vanille and also used Pearl String.

The sentiment is computer generated and I've attached an Idea-ology Hinge Clip the roses and Chrysanths are from Kort and Godt and the Shabby Chic Magnolia Tinsel Dahlia is available here.

I've also added sparkle with Glamour Dust.

Our 'Lovely Lace or Terrific Trim' at Live and Love Crafts runs all month, we can't wait to see what you create.

Hugs,

Becky xx
